How does the Debt Counsellor obtain balance updates?
Account balance updates are obtained by a debt counsellor to monitor the progress of payments towards an account while under the debt counselling process or upon request from a client. Account balance updates also help provide an accurate time when an account(s) will be paid up.
When should clients request balance updates?
It is advisable to obtain balance updates at least every 6 or 12 months to observe any significant change in the balance outstanding.
Please note: The first 2 months of payment go towards the restructuring fee and legal fee and a portion in month 3 due to VAT, with partial payment to your creditors. Therefore your creditors will only receive full payment in month 4
How do we obtain balance updates?
The debt counsellor’s office can obtain balances telephonically or in writing via email depending on the credit provider's process. If the request is urgent the balances will all be obtained telephonically (if possible) and sent to the client in writing. Balances will all be valid for that day only and will be updated on the client’s payment plan accordingly.
Please note: A ticket will be created for the account balances to be obtained within a service level agreement of 7-14 business days.
